Manuel Halpern Jornalista

Manuel Halpern was born in Lisbon in the year of 1974. He is best known for his journalistic and critic career for “Jornal de Letras e Ideias”, where he works since 1998, and for regularly collaborating with “Visão” magazine.

He got his Bachelor’s degree in Social Com­mu­ni­ca­tion at the Por­tu­guese Catho­lic Uni­ver­sity, and he did a post-gra­du­a­tion in Pop Music and Movie Cri­tics, at the Bar­ce­lo­nan Uni­ver­si­dad Ramón Llull.

Hal­pen is the author of books such as O Futuro da Sau­dade” (essay, Dom Qui­xote 2004), O segredo do teu Corpo/​Palco” (teathre, Qui­mera, 2006) and Fora de Mim” (fic­tion, note­book, 2008) and also pro­grams like Con­tos para Pula­res” (Antena 3),” Juke Box” (Star FM) and Best of Cinema” (ETV).

He is a mem­ber of FIPRSCI and a judge in seve­ral music and cinema fes­ti­vals; he won the jour­na­lism fel­lowships of FLAD/​José Rodri­gues Miguéis (Washing­ton, 2013) and Gabriel Gar­cía Már­quez (Car­ta­genna de Índias, 2014) and he was also awar­ded the hono­rary title of Ami­cus Roma­niae by the Por­tu­guese Embassy of Roma­nia.
