Manuel Halpern Jornalista

Manuel Halpern was born in Lisbon in the year of 1974. He is best known for his journalistic and critic career for “Jornal de Letras e Ideias”, where he works since 1998, and for regularly collaborating with “Visão” magazine.

He got his Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication at the Portuguese Catholic University, and he did a post-graduation in Pop Music and Movie Critics, at the Barcelonan Universidad Ramón Llull.

Halpen is the author of books such as “O Futuro da Saudade” (essay, Dom Quixote 2004), “O segredo do teu Corpo/Palco” (teathre, Quimera, 2006) and “Fora de Mim” (fiction, notebook, 2008) and also programs like “Contos para Pulares” (Antena 3),” Juke Box” (Star FM) and “Best of Cinema” (ETV).

He is a member of FIPRSCI and a judge in several music and cinema festivals; he won the journalism fellowships of FLAD/José Rodrigues Miguéis (Washington, 2013) and Gabriel García Márquez (Cartagenna de Índias, 2014) and he was also awarded the honorary title of Amicus Romaniae by the Portuguese Embassy of Romania.
