Na próxima quinta-feira, 18 de Junho, a sessão é dedicada à obra da cineasta Claudia Varejão exibindo-se 4 obras; Fim-de-Semana, Luz da Manhã, Um Dia Frio e Falta-me.
| Cláudia Varejão nasceu no Porto e estudou cinema no Programa de Criatividade e Criação Artística da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian em parceria com a German Film und Fernsehakademie Berlin, na Academia Internacional de Cinema de São Paulo Brasil e fotografia na AR.CO, em Lisboa.É autora da curta documental Falta-me/Wanting e recentemente tem dedicado o seu trabalho à ficção, dando origem à triologia de curtas metragens Fim-de-semana/Weekend, Um dia Frio/Cold Day e Luz da Manhã/Morning Light. Para além do seu percurso como realizadora e fotógrafa, trabalha regularmente como directora de fotografia e montadora em cinema. | Cláudia Varejão, who was born in Porto, began her film studies on the program of Creativity and Artistic Creation, run jointly by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, the German Film and Ferneshakacademie, Berlin and the International Film Academy, São Paulo Brazil. She also studied photography at AR.CO in Lisbon.Cláudia authored the documentary short Falta-me/Wanting and recently, dedicating more of her time to fiction, she has made a trilogy of short feature films: Fim-de-Semana/Weekend, Um dia Frio/Cold day and Luz da Manhã/Morning Light. As well as pursuing a career as a director and photographer, she regularly works as director of photography and film editor. |

Luz da Manhã 18′ /2012
| Luz da manhã fecha um círculo de três curtas metragens de Cláudia Varejão sobre o (des)encontro em família. Onde nem sempre os caminhos coincidem e as rupturas inesperadas não são necessariamente resultado de uma falha. O quotidiano oculta forças maiores e silenciosas. E o seu entendimento apresenta-se muitas vezes como uma tarefa demasiado violenta ou até, inútil. Seja qual fôr o olhar que se permite viver, a transcendência das relações humanas estará sempre lá, frontal, inabalável e bruta. Luz da manhã aproxima-se da distância entre três gerações, mãe, filha e neta. Num denso rio que as une, sem motivo aparente para além da exaustão, uma fenda emerge. | Morning Light closes a circle of three short films by Cláudia Varejão on family (dis)encounters, where the roads do not always coincide and unexpected disruptions are not necessarily the result of a failure. Everyday life hides larger and quieter forces and their understanding is often presented as a task too violent or even useless. Whatever the look that is allowed to live, the transcendence of human relations will always be there, front, unwavering and gross. Morning Light approaches the distance between three generations – mother, daughter and granddaughter. In a dense river that unites them, for no apparent reason other than exhaustion, a fissure emerges. |

| Um Dia Frio é um retrato de uma relação primeira, anterior ao mundo externo, a da família. Num Inverno em Lisboa, pai, mãe, filho e filha, traçam o percurso de um dia, a sós. Um filme que se desenvolve em torno de personagens cujo antagonista não é mais do que a própria vida, com nada (e tudo) de heróico. | Cold Day is a portrait of a first relationship, previous to the external world, the one of the family. In a winter in Lisbon, father, mother, son and daughter, trace the path of a day by themselves. A film that develops through characters who have for their antagonist life itself, with nothing (and everything) heroic about it. |

Falta-me 20′ / 2005
Na turbulência da vida urbana acontece-nos esquecer ou subestimar coisas que nos fazem falta, ausências que nos suspendem, adiam ou até que nos magoam. Este documentário pede a cerca de uma centena de habitantes da área metropolitana de Lisboa que escrevam numa ardósia o que mais lhes faz falta. São respostas de pessoas de vários extractos sociais, de diferentes idades e com actividades diversificadas, que acabam por compor um retrato íntimo da sociedade portuguesa contemporânea.
In the turbulence of the city life we sometimes forget or underestimate things that we want, absences that hold us, delay or even hurt us. In this documentary film, around one hundred inhabitants from the area of Lisbon are asked to write on a small blackboard what are they missing the most. There are answers from people of different social backgrounds, different ages, several activities that end up making an intimate portrait of the contemporary Portuguese society.
